The community
Family dinners, skillshares, aperitifs, local outings: what makes life at Les Briques.
A community that makes Les Briques

At Les Briques, you come for the house as much as for the people who live in it. Each season brings a new mix of remote workers, authors, artists and entrepreneurs, staying for a few days or several weeks.

The week is built around a few fixed gatherings — Monday’s family meeting, Saturday’s family dinner, one or two skillshares mid-week. The rest comes together naturally: aperitifs on the terrace, walks on the beach, movie nights on the projector.

The weekly rhythm
Monday evenings at 7pm, family meeting: everyone introduces themselves, suggests activities and outings for the week, and interested colivers sign up.

Mid-week, one or two skillshares — a coliver presents a topic close to their heart, followed by a discussion.

Thursday evenings in summer, night market along the seafront of Lion-sur-Mer — often followed by an improvised aperitif on the seawall.

Saturday, open wood workshop twice a month at 2pm for those who want to give it a try, and family dinner in the evening: everyone gathers around a long meal.

In between, whatever you like: a walk on the beach before coffee, a coworking session, drinks on the terrace, a movie night on the projector.
Cooking and eating together
The shared kitchen and the four-meter table are at the heart of social life at Les Briques. This is where the Saturday family dinner is prepared, where someone improvises a raclette on an autumn evening, where Sunday brunch is shared.

Everyone cooks at their own pace: alone for themselves, or together for a shared meal. Groceries come from the markets of nearby villages, or directly from local producers in Calvados.

And for the days when cooking is not on the agenda, the tearoom on the ground floor serves light lunches and platters of local products, with a 10% discount for colivers.
Skillshares and wood workshop
Once or twice a week, a coliver leads a skillshare: an hour to share a skill, a passion, a project. Casual format, followed by a discussion over coffee or a drink.

Some past topics:
  • Travelling Europe by night train
  • Using AI well when writing
  • How we built Les Briques
  • Morning yoga session
  • Getting started with music composition
Twice a month, on Saturday at 2pm, Jean — a trained carpenter — runs an open wood workshop in the carpentry studio next to the coliving. It’s not quite a skillshare, but it’s in the same spirit — learn, build, share.
Beyond Les Briques
The community doesn’t stop at the door of the house. Lion-sur-Mer and the Côte de Nacre offer a rich local life: a Thursday-evening night market in summer, festivals on the seawall, beachside restaurants ten minutes’ walk away.

Colivers often head out together for sunset aperitifs, dinner by the water, or a concert on the sand. The coliving lends two bikes for those who want to ride further — to Ouistreham, Luc-sur-Mer, or Caen.
